History

Named by combining the first two letters of the founders' names (Rumsey, Deal, Ferris, Haggarty). The mine produced $2 million in copper ore. The 16-mile aerial tramway connected it to Encampment. When the company went bankrupt in 1908, the town died almost overnight.
