History
Founded in 1879, Gothic boomed to 1,000 residents with over 200 buildings. Silver crash of 1893 killed the town. In 1928, Dr. John C. Johnson established the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) in the abandoned townsite, and it remains one of the premier mountain research stations in the world.
