History

Founded 1881 as a silver mining camp. The Crystal Mill (actually a powerhouse for an air compressor), built in 1892, sits dramatically on a rock outcropping above the Crystal River. It's one of the most photographed and iconic structures in Colorado. A handful of residents still live here seasonally.
