History

Named after a civil engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. Development started with Miller Mercantile Co. in 1913. Cowboys built rodeo grounds and a horse racing track. During the 1930s Dust Bowl, wind storms exposed Native American artifacts at ancient campsites thousands of years old. In 1934, residents assembled one of the largest collections of Early Man artifacts and organized the first 'Stone Age Fair,' held annually until 1940 when it moved to Loveland, where it still continues each September.
