History
At 10,620 ft, Altman was reputedly the highest incorporated city in the United States. During the 1894 Cripple Creek miners' strike, Altman served as the headquarters for the Western Federation of Miners. The union built a fort on Bull Hill and briefly seceded from Colorado.
