History
Founded as Camp Austin in 1897. Within a year it had a hotel, saloon, stores, assay office, butcher shop, and newspaper. Notable mines included the Golden Wonder and Vivandiere. Post office closed 1939. Today several old log buildings remain in a beautifully remote mountain setting.
