History

Originally called Virginia City, renamed to Tin Cup to avoid confusion. One of the wildest mining camps in Colorado -- its notorious town marshal was murdered, and vigilante justice was common. Gold discovered 1859, boomed in 1879. The cemetery has a separate section for 'undesirables.'
