History
A zinc and silver mining town owned by the New Jersey Zinc Company. In 1984, the EPA declared it a Superfund site due to severe groundwater and soil contamination from mining waste. All residents were evacuated in 1984 and the town was closed. The buildings remain eerily intact but are extremely hazardous.
