History

Established by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1872, named for Robert E. Carr who managed construction of the rail line through town. Post office opened March 26, 1872. Carried Old Colorado State Highway 5 from 1920-1939. The US Post Office closed around 2021 when its leased building became uninhabitable. Storefronts are gone but the community shows signs of modest revitalization with new residents.
