Sister city to South Pass City during the 1868 gold rush. Unlike its neighbor, Atlantic City never fully died -- a small community has persisted. The Atlantic City Mercantile and Miner's Grubstake (saloon) still operate. A second gold rush in the 1880s-90s brought hydraulic mining. Today about 37 hardy residents remain.
