History

Named after a Jules Verne novel, Sneffels was home to the famous Revenue Mine and Atlas Mill. The nearby Camp Bird Mine, developed by Thomas Walsh, was one of the richest gold mines in Colorado and funded Walsh's daughter Evalyn's purchase of the Hope Diamond.
