History

A gold and silver mining camp in the Absaroka Range. Had a hotel, general store, and post office. Aviator Amelia Earhart planned to build a cabin retreat here in the 1930s -- the foundation can still be seen. An avalanche in 1907 killed three people and damaged many buildings, hastening the town's decline.
